Therapeutic Alternative Provision (AP) for EHCP & SEMH Learners
Specialist 1:1 and Small Group Tutoring for Neurodivergent, School-Refusing, and Emotionally Distressed Learners
Some young people need more than a mainstream setting can offer. Whether due to anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, or complex SEMH needs — our therapeutic AP supports learners to re-engage with education in a way that works for them.
We deliver trauma-informed, relationship-based tutoring across Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. Our team supports EHCP-funded students, school refusers, and young people struggling with mental health, motivation, or attendance.
The goal: To help them feel safe, seen, and ready to learn.
Where We Deliver
Beyond Limits Learning and Wellbeing provides therapeutic Alternative Provision across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and surrounding areas. Our delivery is flexible, learner-led and built around each young person’s needs, confidence, safety and readiness to engage.
We deliver provision across a range of calm, structured and supportive environments, including:
Dedicated Beyond Limits Venues
We currently have our own standalone provision spaces in:
- Pleasley
- Wollaton
- Long Eaton
- Langley Mill
These venues allow us to offer calm, small-scale learning environments away from the pressure of a mainstream classroom, while still providing structure, routine and meaningful engagement.
Home-Based Provision
For some learners, provision may begin in the home where this is the most appropriate and least overwhelming starting point. This can support learners who are anxious, demand avoidant, disengaged, or not yet ready to access a venue.
Outdoor and Practical Learning Spaces
Where suitable, learners may also access practical, interest-led and outdoor learning opportunities, including:
- Allotment-based learning in Ruddington and Mansfield
- Woodland learning in Gotham
- Community-based learning
- Fitness, cooking, creative projects, nature-based work and life skills activities
These opportunities can be linked to EHCP outcomes, AQA Unit Award Scheme work, personal development, confidence building and re-engagement with learning.
Tutor-Led Transport
Where required and agreed as part of the placement, transport can be provided by our tutors or mentors. All staff providing transport are appropriately insured.
We currently deliver across:
- North Nottinghamshire
- South Nottinghamshire
- Derbyshire
- Leicestershire
- Areas within reasonable reach of our venues and commissioned provision
Sessions are usually delivered in 2.5 to 3 hour blocks, scheduled in morning or afternoon sessions depending on the learner’s needs, pacing and readiness. Every placement is built around consistency, emotional safety, relationship-based support and meaningful engagement.
