Beyond Limits Learning and Wellbeing
Do You Want To Contribute To A Young Person’s Future?
At Beyond Limits, we are building a team of calm, grounded and genuinely caring practitioners who can help young people rediscover safety, confidence and hope.
This is not classroom teaching.
This is therapeutic, relationship-led support for young people who have struggled in school, who are neurodivergent, who have high needs, or who simply need adults who see them as people first.
We have two pathways you can apply for.
You must indicate which pathway you are applying for when you submit your application.
Pathway 1: SEND Mentor
SEND mentors work with young people who have developmental delays, learning disabilities, communication differences and sensory needs. Some may need support with personal care as part of their day.
You may be a great fit if you have experience in care, nursing, adult social care, youth work, supported living, therapy or SEMH support.
What matters most is your ability to stay calm, connect, and help a young person regulate, communicate and grow at their own pace.
You will be supporting young people who may be:
• Autistic
• ADHD
• Non verbal or using communication tools such as Makaton
• Experiencing emotional overwhelm
• Living with learning disabilities
• Requiring personal care such as helping change pull ups, supporting hygiene or self care
This role involves de-escalation, co regulation and gentle therapeutic education.
If you are applying for the SEND pathway, you must confirm whether you are comfortable carrying out personal care tasks where required.
Pathway 2: Alternative Provision Mentor or Tutor
AP mentors and tutors work with learners who are disengaged from education, anxious, school avoidant or at risk of exclusion. Some have experienced trauma or breakdowns in relationships with school.
You may be a teacher, coach, TA, youth worker, therapist or creative who knows how to connect with young people in a human, genuine way.
What matters most is that you can:
• Build rapport before expecting learning
• Adapt sessions quickly
• Meet young people with humour, curiosity and patience
• Support learners who are dysregulated or overwhelmed
• Deliver English, maths and wider creative or vocational learning in a flexible way
• Work confidently 1:1 in homes, community venues or our learning hubs
This is ideal for practitioners who want freedom, autonomy and meaningful work without the restrictions of the classroom.
About the Work
• One to one mentoring and therapeutic education
• Learners are usually aged 5 to 16
• Sessions take place in homes, community spaces or our Mansfield, Beeston, Langwith Bassett and Ransom Wood hubs
• Flexible hours from 6 to 30 per week
• Rates from £30 to £35 per hour depending on experience and placement
• All practitioners are self employed
• You must drive, have business insurance and an enhanced DBS
• Training in trauma informed practice, PACE and relational approaches is provided
Who We Are Looking For
We want people who:
• Believe every child deserves dignity, patience and possibility
• Understand that behaviour is communication
• Can stay steady and kind in moments of overwhelm
• Use empathy, creativity and presence as their toolkit
• Can work independently with clear communication and weekly updates
• Want to make a genuine difference instead of ticking boxes
If you sit beside a young person rather than stand over them, you will fit in well here.
